International Shipping from the U.S.
In general we do international shipping via the U.S Postal Service.
They are much less expensive than other package delivery systems and
generally as reliable. This is not true for all countries where the local mail
system is not very reliable. In those countries we will use UPS or DHL
depending on price.
Our goal is to ship to as inexpensively as possible. We will repack
merchandise to ship in a smaller box if that will allow us to provide less
expensive shipping.
The Post Office dramatically changed its international package delivery
program in mid May 2007 The largest change was the elimination of surface or
ground shipments.
The two examples below elucidate some of the issues encountered in
International Shipments. The least expensive mode of shipment (First Class
International) is only for parcels 4 pounds and below, and for small packages
no longer than 24" and something called maximum combined length of
36".
In addition, there are maximum size and weight differences for different
countries. For example the same order to Australia might have to ship in two
boxes, but only one box to England… with dramatic impacts on shipping cost.

There is no surface shipping anymore. There is no time estimate on any first class shipping.

The most efficient way to get a cost estimate is to place an order on line and
request we send a shipping estimate before we ship. This takes one day
usually, a max of three over a weekend or holiday.
This International Shipping can be a big pain! That’s why so few merchants
do it. We do it because we like to make sales and we’re good at it. But it
certainly has it’s challenges!
